Court dismisses case

May 14th 08: Nawal wins the case that was filed against her. Court dismisses case:
The State Council's Administrative Court of Justice has rejected the suitcase filed against Dr Nawal al Saadawi claiming for depriving her from Egyptian nationality. The suitcase filed by a lawyer called Samir Sabry claimed lifting nationality from Al Saadawi for her controversial ideas and thoughts. The Hisham Mubarak Law Center joined the case to defend Al Saadawi's right to express her thoughts. The court handed down that the law doesn't allow lifting nationality for holding controversial thoughts or different creed. Court Rejects Al Saadawi Case. [The Hisham Mubarak Law Center].

Case against Nawal

A fundamentalist lawyer named Saad El Dine Sherif Sabry has raised two cases against Nawal because she wrote a play entitled "God Reisgns at the Summit Meeting."In the first case raised in front of the Higher Administrative Court of Maglis Al Dawla he asks that she be deprived of her Egyptian nationality and prevented from entering the country.In the second he requests that all her books be banned by the Minister of Culture.The judgement will be issued on May 29 after several posponements.
